Jazz and Malian incantations
"Here, at last, is the long-awaited excuse to invite back the Litanie des Cimes we welcomed back in 2021: the thrilling trio becomes a quartet with Mah Damba on vocals and divine incantations. A Mandingo griot, the Malian singer is a splendid addition to Clément Janinet's small team, whose many talents we readily acknowledge include knowing how to surround herself very well! With her, the group pushes the sensibility of the original line-up even further and invents new territories. While retaining a great deal of freedom for improvisation and melodic escapism, the instrumentalists are given a tender heckling: slow tempos are jostled by the urgency, and over fast beats she blows a low, gentle tune. On the lookout, the clarinet seizes it and goes twirling all the way up there". Dimitri Dero.
